"Contraband"
is defined as any item that may lead to bodily injury or cause
a disruption of school operations. These include, but are limited
to:
- Electronic
devices other than calculators and cell phones
- Cell phones
and pagers used in the time between the opening and closing
bells (8:30 - 2:15)
- Chains,
"heelies", or other clothing and accessories which
might prove dangerous
- Skateboards,
roller skates and scooters
- Balloons
and other inflatable toys
- Music devices
with speakers
- Cigarettes,
lighter, etc.
- Candy or
gum
- Drug/gang
related items
- Any toy
that creates a disturbance in the classroom or on campus
- Rubber
bands
- Permanent
markers
- Personally
owned volleyballs, basketballs, etc.
Students
caught with contraband items will be warned and the item may be
confiscated by the adult that sees it. On the first offense, a
contraband item will be turned into the office where the student
can usually pick it up. On the second offense, the contraband
item will be kept in the office and only given back to the students
parent or guardian. If a student continues to bring the contraband
item, the student will be considered insubordinate and will receive
consequences accordingly.
