WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Do you want to have a hand in your children's educational experience?
Would you like to spend some of your time being closer to your
child during the school day?
Are you wishing you could develop a little closer relationship
with the school staff?
Is volunteering your time an important way for you to contribute
to your community?
If
the answer to any or all of the questions above is "yes",
then you may be interested in helping out at Kealakehe Intermediate
School as a parent volunteer. Listed below are some of the volunteer
positions we are looking to fill:
Cafeteria
Monitors: Extra
eyes and ears in the cafeteria during peak hours (11:15 - 12:30)
makes lunch time run smoother and makes the children happier.
Lunch
Recess Monitors: During
lunch recess (11:15 - 12:30), children are out playing on campus.
The more adults we have watching the kids, the safer they are.
Cafeteria
Meal Account Helper (putting money on students' lunch cards):
Right
now we have a security worker doing this job before school (7:15
- 8:00). Volunteer help would free our security guard to be
out supervising the children in the morning.
Monitors
for Before (7:15 - 8:00) and After (1:40 - 2:30) School:
Buses
loading and unloading, the entire school population roaming
campus, elementary school children passing through--these are
some of the issues we deal with daily, both before and after
school. We can never have too many adults watching over our
kids.
Campus
Monitors During Class Hours (8:00 - 1:40): When
classes are in session, children are trying to wander, but it's
tough to cut class when adults are right there, asking you for
your hall pass. Can't spend all day with us? Pick a time when
you'd like to be present and we'll schedule you.
One-on-One
Tutor:
Do you have good English, Math
or other studies skills? We have students who could use your
one-on-one help. Do you speak Spanish, a Filipino dialect, or
perhaps a language from Micronesia? Children with limited English
speaking skills may need your assistance with their studies.
If you are interested in helping children with their academics
and have free time between the hours of 7:00 and 3:00, we can
use your efforts.
Campus
Beautification: Do
you like to work with your hands? We have lots of projects here
at school, things need to be painted, weeds need to be trimmed
and plants need tending. Our custodians do a magnificent job,
but there's just not enough time in the day sometimes. You could
make our campus look just that much prettier.
